Tulip Excursion
A real life experience: excursion in the tulip greenery of Siem Munster! In our greenery we grow over 20 hectares of tulips, in different phases of growth, in many species and colors. A beautiful sight! Yellow, red, pink, white, flamed, this is the thing we can’t get enough of. This is something we want to share with everybody and therefore we started to open our doors for groups on holiday or societies on a daytrip since 2009.
If you choose to visit our nursery, we welcome you in one of our greenhouses which is rebuild to an atmospheric room with seats for everybody. Here we give a professional presentation through which we inform our guests about the growing process of the tulip, from bulb to flower. This presentation will take around 15 minutes. We are happy to offer you the opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee and/or tea, possibly combined with fresh pie or a lunch.
After this warm welcome and presentation we will start the guided tour through our greenery. Depending on the time of the year we walk around in the green houses where employees are picking the tulips, we walk along the colorful fields or we have a look in the barns where the tulip bulbs are being processed.
Our greenery has the highest environmental certificate in the flower growing business: MPS-A+. We have a wide range of sustainability measurements which we will see during the guided tour. The solar installation with 2.800 solar panels, two batteries with a capacity of 1 MW each, sustainable drying installations for the tulip bulbs, climate systems, reuse of rain water, precision farming with GPS coordinated tractors, nature field for better bird diversity an bio diversity, etc.
As a result of the blooming season we inform our guests that we expect to see blooming tulips from Mid-March (in the greenhouse) until Mid-May (in the fields), apart from this season we focus our excursions on the production process of the tulip bulbs, the sustainability measurements and the machinery that we use for this.
Of course we plan enough time to answer all your questions and there will be time to buy nice gadgets. We would love to welcome you in our family business in the lowlands of the Netherlands, 5 meters below sea level!
